Best ways to spend Legendary Shards before The Final Shape in Destiny 2

The Countdown begins.

One of the most dramatic changes to Destiny 2 with the Final Shape is the removal of Legendary Shards. If you’ve got a stockpile, you must get rid of it ASAP. Here are the best ways to spend Legendary Shards before The Final Shape in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: The best ways to spend Legendary Shards

If you’re like me and sitting on an irresponsible amount of Legendary Shards, you’re probably trying to figure out where to use them. I’m sitting on over 2,000, so here’s where mine are going:

  • Raid Banners
  • Weapons from Banshee-44
  • Lectern of Enchantment
  • Master Rahool
  • Xur

Tower Vendors

There are a few decent places to spend Legendary Shards in the Tower. You can’t go wrong with Raid Banners from Suraya if you’re a team player. You can buy packs of 10 for 30 Shards a pop and accumulate enough to cover months of activities.

Don’t forget to bolster your weapon inventory while you’re here. There’s a small selection of guns available from Banshee-44. At the time of writing, you can buy the Lunalata-4B Stasis Bow from the Gunsmith for 30 Legendary Shards. This bow has a chance to give an Enhancement Core when you dismantle it, and it is an easy way to stock up.

Use the Lecturn of Enchantment

A great way to spend Legendary Shards is to turn them into Glimmer. Head to the Sanctuary Waypoint on the Moon by Eris Morn and use the Lecturn nearby. You can buy Phantasmal Fragments for 10 Legendary Shards, which can be converted into Glimmer with Master Rahool at the Tower.

The best thing about Phantasmal Fragments is you can store them even when you reach the Glimmer cap of 500,000. This means you can technically hold millions as you store materials to be converted.

There will be a lot of Guardians doing this before the Final Shape, so you’ll be in good company.

Master Rahool’s Material Exchange

Master Rahool mainly deals in Glimmer, but you can use the method above to gain as much as you need. Spend your hard-earned Glimmer on Ascendant Materials which you’ll need to Masterwork all the new Exotics from the Final Shape.

Xur: Agent of the nine

I’m saving my last handful of Legendary Shards for Xur’s arrival at the end of the week. While I’m hopeful Xur will bring candy, he may bring coal as usual, so it’s probably not worth saving a mountain of shards for him.

You can always buy an Exotic Engram for under 100 Legendary Shards, even if Xur’s inventory sucks.

It’s as good of a time as any to start Masterworking your best guns. There are many Exotic weapons worthy of your attention that will bring the pain no matter what The Final Shape throws at you.
