Verdansk is the original Call of Duty: Warzone map that captivated players since day one. Over the course of its life cycle, the map received some adjustments. One of the biggest came with Verdansk ’84, which aligned the map with the theme of Black Ops Cold War. However, the launch of Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season One saw Caldera take Verdansk’s place, with players left to believe that Verdansk would never return. Now, there is some hope for those of us wanting to go back to the nostalgia of Verdansk in Warzone.
In a recent LegionFarm live stream, Activision’s Alex Summers stated that Verdansk is returning to Call of Duty: Warzone in 2023. Before you get too excited, there is a catch. Summers goes on to explain that the map will only be on “certain platforms.” Fans are already speculating at what this could mean, but it could link to the game’s upcoming mobile release. Due to the success that Verdansk saw, it could be possible that the Call of Duty team is bringing the map the mobile version of the battle royale. It may also be used as a promotional tool, but nothing is concrete just yet.
Verdansk could be just the beginning
Summers also mentioned that Warzone 2.0 will have a new, large map when the next iteration of the game releases. All of this is good news for players who are not enjoying the current state of Warzone Pacific. Fans have been critical of Caldera, while the amount of bugs in the game has been causing further frustrations. Back in January, Activision released a statement promising to improve the state of the game. Although regular updates and changes are being deployed, there’s still a long way to go.
It’s important to note that plans around Verdansk returning to Warzone could change as time goes on. Make sure to sit tight and wait for further announcements from Activision in the future.
